Job Summary
NetApp is uniquely placed in the industry and in an enviable position partnering with major hyper scalers (AWS, GCP and Azure) which adds a new challenge for Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) driving innovation in the space of Cloud service fundamentals. Cloud Storage team is embarking on a new charter to address these challenges for Cloud native applications, of simplifying customer operations and being a key differentiator. Key Responsibilities
- As a Staff Engineer, you are as a single threaded owner of a complex distributed system (cloud native applications) and you drive customer success.
- As a Staff Engineer, your role requires you to independently design and develop cloud native applications, meeting the performance, scale and reliability requirements. In due course, ensure validation and qualification for enterprise readiness.
- Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions and fully understand system interdependencies and limitation.
- As a Staff engineer, you are representing your team as a SME for cross-functional engineering engagements and driving dependencies.
- In order to futureproof the product, leading by example and championing innovation, actively drive ideation and lead them to fructification and eventually leading to Intellectual property.
- Architect and design modern, cloud native testing framework and components.
- Engaging stakeholders and partners, drive focused efforts for and high quality of the product.
- Build modern CI/CD infrastructure which works all the time for several hundred developers working on multitude of interconnected software deployment pipelines.
- Assist in the career development of others, actively coach and mentor other engineers on advanced technical issues.
- As part of a larger team, you are required to work closely with team members and leadership in ensuring the overall team objectives are met as ONE team. Your partnership with other team members will be crucial to success of all customer deliverables.
Job Requirements
- 12+ years of industry experience in software development.
- 5+ years of experience in data management systems & storage platforms for managing and storing data across various workloads and environments.
- 3+ years of expert level hands-on experience in fault tolerant, highly scalable architectures including service-oriented architectures, cloud-native (FAAS, PAAS), and cloud storage services with at least one hyper scaler (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Proficiency in multiple Programming languages like Golang, Node.js, Python.
- Experience with docker, Kubernetes.
- Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, CI build systems and Automated Testing.
- Proactive and self-driven, with strong technical judgment and influential skills.
- Expertise to provide both architectural guidance and detailed technical direction.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers, stakeholders, and the engineering community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Agile Software Development practices.
- Good understanding of concepts related to storage architecture, storage management, data management, standard networking
Education
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience.
