About The Job
This position is needed to lead a team of analysts that use data to ensure that all of Twilio’s communications are trusted and legal/compliant. This involves wide variety of activities including performing multiple analyses to effectively measure the volume of fraud in our communication channels along with building machine learning models that help detect fraud in near real-time .A successful candidate will be a self-starter, embody a growth mindset, collaborate effectively, can mentor junior analysts and operate as a thought leader in the Trust & Safety team. This role interfaces with several key stakeholders and works on initiatives that are tracked at the executive level.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Be the go to person for any data related questions from business stakeholders & executive leadership
- Partner with the Product & Engineering teams to understand overall trust & safety strategy & develop a vision and roadmap for the analytics team to help drive data enabled decisions, simultaneously use data & storytelling to help shape the broader strategy for the organization
- Establish and proactively monitor key fraud metrics to measure the volume of fraud across different product channels(Email, Voice & SMS) and provide thought leadership in helping identify product interventions that would mitigate emerging risks
People Management
- Lead a team of data analysts, scientists, and annotation specialists to develop data-driven solutions that enhance trust and safety across the organization
- Mentor and develop the analytics team inline with individual aspirations & business requirements,, provide guidance on technical skills, and career growth
- Cultivate second line of leadership within the team who can independently manage initiatives with stakeholders
Analytics Delivery
- Oversee the development, implementation & maintenance of machine learning models that help detect fraud in real time
- Help build dashboards & develop metrics that provide a single source of truth to the entire trust & safety organization across multiple Twilio channels(SMS, Voice & Email)
- Build & maintain data pipelines to ingest data from multiple sources & vendors to enrich fraud measurement metrics
- Use data to proactively identify gaps in our onboarding process & engineering systems being exploited by bad actors & help influence product roadmap & drive initiatives that reduce these gaps
- Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders in trust and safety and other relevant orgs to understand their data and analytics needs, and deploy effective trust and safety measures

Required
- 10+ years of experience in analytics or data science roles with 5+ years of people management experience
- Proven experience of working with stakeholders from various orgs(Product, Engineering & Operations) and navigating ambiguous problems at scale
- Excellent knowledge SQL and intermediate knowledge of data manipulation language such as R/Python
- Prior experience of building statistical models (e.g. classification/regression model, product experimentation, NLP use cases).
- Team player and comfortable interacting with people from multiple disciplines
Desired
- Experience managing geographically distributed teams in a full remote environment
- Prior experience managing large teams of 10+ ICs, involving specialists in variety of roles - data analysts, data scientists & data engineers
- Prior experience in trust & safety domain, having performed investigative analyses of new threats and trends and usage of data to optimize rules and policies that defend against these threats

- This role will be remotely based in India (Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi)
