About the Job:

Borneo is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer who will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative products that align with our commitment to protecting privacy and maintaining compliance in the use of ML and Generative AI. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will be a driving force in shaping the technical strategy and architecture of our data discovery and compliance automation platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design, create, and sustain backend services with the broader goals of enabling seamless, secure, and efficient querying of various cloud services.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to design robust security frameworks and controls tailored to protect data used in training and querying LLMs.
• Ensure the services are optimized for fast, efficient querying across different cloud services, dealing with aspects such as query performance, data integration, and user concurrency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee the development of testing frameworks that validate the functionality, reliability, and scalability of the platform.
• Innovate and conceptualize new features and functionalities that enhance user experience and extend the platform’s capabilities.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of the platform’s architecture and design decisions for both internal use and external publication.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field with 6+ years of experience in a hands-on coding role
• Strong development skills, including proficiency in either Golang, Python or Typescript.
• Proven track record in designing scalable and secure software architectures.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey compliance requirements to non-compliance and non-technical teams.
• Proactive, independent worker capable of taking initiative in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Experience:

• Deep understanding of SQL. Experience with integrating against SQL backends (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Working knowledge of workflow management and orchestration frameworks.
