Cloudera is looking for an exceptional and passionate software engineer to join the Data Warehouse engineering team focused on building query federation capabilities. We are looking for engineers with experience in architecting and developing parallel and distributed SQL query engines to help drive innovation in Cloudera Data Platform (CDP). There is ample scope of collaboration and contribution to open source. This is an exciting opportunity to work on products that handle complex SQL query workloads on public or private clouds as part of CDP.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will:

• Help build complex database systems.

• Design, code and implement elegant, scalable, enterprise-quality application services

• Take charge of a team of Engineers and be the technical advocate for the team. Advocate for the implementation of Engineering best practices and coding standards

• Build strong relationships and collaborate with platform and UI engineers, quality engineers, UX designers, as well as, Product Management, Field Engineering, and other external partners

• Work to enhance developer velocity and team agility

We’re excited about you if you have:

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science or related field

• 8+ years of relevant industry experience designing and implementing responsive and intuitive user interfaces for enterprise software using cutting-edge technologies, languages (Javascript) and frameworks like React

• Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility

• Solid hands-on experience with modern front-end frameworks, SQL IDE, Semantic layers and Databases support, Workflow management, microservices development (gRPC, REST)

• Write clean and maintainable code, adhere to coding and quality/performance standards

• Optimize application performance for maximum speed and scalability

• Good understanding of data warehouse products, query processing, and monitoring tools

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work effectively on cross-functional projects.

It is a plus if you have:

• Experience with an SQL engine, ELT (Extract Load Transform), Nodejs or Python libraries 

• Experience with deploying containerized applications (Kubernetes)

• Experience with public cloud infrastructures such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform

• Familiarity with UI testing frameworks like Jest or Selenium
