I have 18+ years of experience writing Java based solutions primarily in the domain of Capital Markets/Equity Derivatives & Reference Data within Investment Banking. I have had the good fortune of spending a decade designing & implementing low-latency high-throughput Greenfield projects along with the opportunity of re-designing, re-factoring & re-writing existing solutions to make them more responsive & scalable. I have a diverse experience in “data-oriented” projects where the primary task involved analysing & transforming data on a large scale. Have had the opportunity to work with great teams & many projects in this journey, highlights of my work include: - https://tradegyani.com which I architected, designed & implemented with a small team of inexperienced but talented individuals. - A Market Data repository, which served about 1.75-2 million requests per day. Wrote most of it & didn’t had to tune it for the 3.5 years I was associated with the project. The system scaled well & on a busy day was able to serve 17 million requests. - A notification engine, improved the existing solution for all sorts of functional & performance issues. Measurable improvement included throughput which scaled up from 2500 to 85000 notifications/min. I do my best work when challenged, especially if at least a part of the problem includes performance issues, large data sets and/or simply analysing data. Colleagues know me to be patient, so it’s not just computers I work well with. I have an Engineering Degree in Computer Science & a post graduate Diploma in Information Technology from I.I.T Kharagpur.
