We are looking for a Data Modeler/ Data Engineer to join us in building a scalable data foundation, easy-to-use data platform targeted at various technical folks within New Relic. We also build data apps atop this platform when needed.

Help understand the requirements, come up with conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support the data that the company will use for building metrics. Bringing deep analytical,architecture skills, you will add to our environment to build a strong data foundation for the company. We are seeking someone excited about having an impact at New Relic around revenue and customer experience!

What you'll do

Assisting team members in designing and building data models at scale. We bring in data from various sources that includes multiple data patterns and formats through streaming and batch processing. You will be helping to deliver scalable, extendable,data models with foresight and make it flexible to accommodate future business requirements for use by our Data Warehouse team, Analytics teams and Data Scientists. 

• Understand and implement business and IT data requirements leveraging new data strategies across multiple data platforms(relational, dimensional, distributed, and NoSQL) and complementing data visualization for analytics, and data science.
• Analyze and translate business needs into long-term solution data models. 
• Work with business and data engineering teams to build foundational data models, data flows and also develop conceptual/logical/physical data models.
• Able to define and govern data modeling standards, data architecture standards, best practices for the enterprise.
• Work hands-on data modeling, design tables, views, scalable optimized data models with an eye on performance optimization.
• Collaborate with data architects / data engineers to design data models for new and existing objects defined in the Data Warehouse.

This role requires

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related experience
• 3+ years of hands-on building relational, dimensional models experience.
• Experience working in Data Warehouse, data lake, and cloud data platforms
• Solid understanding of metadata management, working knowledge of building data models, and related data modeling tools ( ErWin, ERStudio, SQLDBM) required.
• Experience in providing overviews on conceptual,logical, and physical data modeling.
• Certification or equivalent experience in cloud data platforms ( AWS, Snowflake etc)
• Experience with modern data technologies such as Airflow, Snowflake, Redshift, Spark
• Knowledge of source control, github,,confluence, CI/CD
