Release Manager

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Release Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Release Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the end-to-end release process of our software products. You will work closely with development, quality assurance, and operations teams to ensure smooth and successful software releases, meeting both business and technical requirements.

 

What you’ll do for us:

 

Release Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define release scope, objectives, and timelines.
  • Develop comprehensive release plans, considering dependencies and constraints.
  • Coordinate release activities across different teams and environments.
  • Release Deployment and Execution:
  • Oversee the execution of release deployment plans, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Monitor release progress and address issues or delays promptly.
  • Conduct release readiness reviews and ensure all necessary approvals are obtained.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and dependencies associated with releases.
  • Develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of risks on release schedules.
  • Proactively communicate risks and issues to stakeholders and facilitate resolution.

Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to define and execute release testing strategies.
  • Ensure that releases meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Implement processes for capturing and addressing defects identified during testing.

Change Management:

  • Facilitate change management processes to assess the impact of proposed changes on release schedules and environments.
  • Coordinate with change advisory boards (CABs) to review and approve release-related changes.
  • Ensure changes are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline release processes and improve efficiency.
  • Implement automation and tooling to optimize release management workflows.
  • Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned.

What you’ll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in release management or a similar role, preferably in the software industry.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and practices.
  • Experience with release management tools and technologies (e.g., Jira, Git, Jenkins).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple releases concurrently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies is a must and understanding of DevOps practices is a plus.
  • Certification in release management (e.g., ITIL Release, Control, and Validation) is desirable.
