The Information Security team at Xactly is a group of skilled professionals specializing in Privacy, Risk, Identity, Threat and Vulnerability, Application Security, Third Party Risk and more. They will be your allies in creating and implementing security programs, building a vibrant team of passionate engineers and analysts, and defending our computing environment from malicious activities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Head of Security Operations, you will expertly deploy detective and protective technologies, thriving in an environment that encourages experimentation and innovation.

You’ll lead and grow a small team along both leadership and technical tracks, managing and mentoring them to enhance their skills. Collaborating closely with our Corporate IT and engineering teams, you will implement strategic patterns for security best practices, and automate security processes while establishing and reporting on key metrics that prove the efficacy of your efforts. Your team will also be responsible for responding to security incidents and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

While this is a management position, we expect our leaders to be expert practitioners who lead by example, contribute at the highest level, and evaluate work based on their own professional experience and skills. You should possess deep, hands-on expertise with a variety of open-source and proprietary security tools and practices, integrating them into a comprehensive, modern security solution for Xactly.

This role is based in Bangalore and reports directly to our Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will hire and mentor a team of exceptional technical security professionals, guiding them to achieve excellence. You will define Xactly’s SecOps security standards and playbooks while continuously analyzing and improving our security architecture. Reporting directly to our CISO, you will be the local eyes and ears in the prominent India office, serving as a champion of strong security culture. This role will be the primary point of contact for all operational security issues.

Taking ownership of the architecture and design of the Security Operations Center (SOC), you will implement cutting-edge security tools and practices. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying, containing, and guiding the remediation of security threats and cyber attacks. By building strong relationships within the team, company, and with external partners, you will ensure that Xactly effectively collects, synthesizes, and utilizes threat intelligence.

Additionally, you will lead tabletop and purple team detection and incident response exercises to enhance our security and privacy preparedness. You will also identify, implement, and track SecOps key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve our security operations continuously.

The Skill Set

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in security management.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be on call as needed.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of security principles and practices, as well as current threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Specifically value prior experience as an Incident Responder
  • Ability to read and code and understand scripting languages (bash, java, etc.)
  • Expert understanding of SOC architecture and design, including logging, SIEM, automation, network segmentation, and honeypots.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern OS security for Mac, Windows, and Linux, with expertise in scalable Linux security.
  • Proven ability to define, implement, automate, and measure effective incident response playbooks.
  • Familiarity with security architecture and leading security tools, both vendor-provided and open-source.
  • Experience with consuming threat intelligence feeds for enriching and automating playbooks.
  • Confidence in reporting security performance metrics with accountability for accuracy and completeness.
  • Promote security awareness and instills a culture of collective and individual responsibilities for practicing good security at all times
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent publicly verifiable practical experience.
  • Certification in relevant security standards (CISSP, CPP, etc.) is preferred.
