Guidewire is expanding its Professional Services team in India with a variety of roles open in our Professional Services center. In professional services we provide implementation and production services to our customers around the world. We are constantly innovating to accelerate pace, predictability and affordability of solutions to help customers adopt the Guidewire platform and applications. We are looking for smart, proactive, and results-oriented Technical Architects to join our team.An Architect working on Guidewire's InsuranceSuite plays a crucial role in the successful implementation and customization of the platform for insurance companies. This role involves both high-level strategic planning and detailed technical execution. Here’s a breakdown of the responsibilities and activities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design: Architects are responsible for designing the overall architecture of the system, ensuring it aligns with the client's business objectives. This includes developing scalable and robust software architectures, creating technical sequence and component diagrams, and balancing trade-offs between performance, scalability, flexibility, and maintainability
- Technical Leadership: They serve as the technical lead for the project, guiding developers and ensuring that all customizations, integrations, and configurations are aligned with the overall architectural vision. This includes working with various tools and languages used within the Guidewire ecosystem, such as Gosu, Java, and RESTful APIs
- Integration Management: Architects are tasked with integrating Guidewire InsuranceSuite with other enterprise systems, leveraging tools like the Guidewire Integration Framework, WebHooks, and Integration Gateway. This ensures seamless data flow between different systems and components, essential for end-to-end insurance processes
- Customer Engagement: They work closely with clients to understand their business needs and translate these into technical requirements. This includes participating in stakeholder meetings, managing expectations, and ensuring that the technical solutions meet the client's business objectives
- Continuous Improvement: Architects are also involved in the continuous improvement of Guidewire implementations. They provide ongoing support, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that the systems evolve with the client’s needs, often by collaborating with the product management and development teams
Required Skills & experience:
- 8+ years hands-on experience with an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java — JVM, SDK, J2EE, JMS, JDBC)
- Deep understanding of the principles and patterns of object-oriented design
- Proficiency in Guidewire Cloud products, including InsuranceSuite Developer Fundamentals, xCenter Configuration, and InsuranceSuite Cloud Integration Basics is preferred
- Experience with Gosu, Apache Camel, JSON, RESTful APIs, Camunda Workflow, GIT, PR reviews, IntelliJ, and React
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective writing skills for drafting technical documentation and for explaining technical problems and solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in consulting or other customer-facing roles
- Experience working on agile teams
- Skilled at solution design, estimation, and breaking down deliverables into user stories and tasks
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
- Knowledge of code review best practice (tools and techniques)
- Experience with source control, branching, unit testing, static code analysis, and other development tools and frameworks, such as Cucumber, Karate, and SonarQube
- Exposure to cloud technologies a plus
- Flexibility to do shift work as needed (aligning to US colleagues/customers)
