Job Description

  • The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial functions within the organization.
  • This leadership position entails collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, strategic financial planning, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • The AVP of Finance contributes significantly to the financial health and success of the organization by implementing sound financial practices, optimizing resources, and driving efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in collaboration with senior management.
  • Analyze financial data, key performance indicators, and industry trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance against goals and adjust strategies as necessary.

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare detailed financial analysis and present results to the executive team and board of directors.
  • Establish robust reporting mechanisms to facilitate transparency and accountability across the organization.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage financial risks that may impact the organization's objectives.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement risk mitigation strategies effectively.

Compliance And Regulation

  • Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to ethical practices.
  • Oversee audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting standards.

Team Leadership

  • Provide vision, leadership, and guidance to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor team members, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Promote innovation and efficiency within the team through process improvements and technology adoption.

Strategic Planning

  • Play a key role in the development and execution of the organization's overall strategic plan.
  • Evaluate the financial implications of strategic initiatives and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial alignment with organizational priorities.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Effectively communicate financial performance, strategies, and plans to diverse audiences.
  • Represent the finance function in meetings and negotiations with key stakeholders

Skills And Qualifications

  • Education: MBA in Finance from a Tier 1 institute or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
  • Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or other relevant professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Proven track record of success in a senior finance role, with significant experience in financial management, planning, and analysis.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), and financial markets.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis tools.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a finance team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills with a strategic Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
