About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in leading technical projects, mentoring junior engineers, and driving innovation within the organization. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex systems and solutions, while ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Define and execute the company's technical vision, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with business goals.
- Team Development: Mentor engineers, foster a culture of excellence, and support hiring efforts.
- Hands-on Contribution: Contribute to core development, solve complex technical issues, and review code.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver products effectively.
- Innovation: Stay updated on technology trends and drive innovation within the team.
- Performance and Security: Ensure system performance, security, and reliability.
- Process Improvement: Optimize engineering processes and workflows.
- Scaling: Lead the scaling of architecture and engineering practices to support growth.
- Quality: Manage technical debt and promote a culture of code quality.
- Risk Management: Anticipate and address technical risks.
- Engineering Efficiency and Scale: Drive initiatives to improve engineering efficiency and scale, such as optimizing build times, automating testing, and managing tech debt.
Qualifications:
- 8+years of experience in software development, with a strong background in SaaS or B2B products.
- Extensive experience in software architecture and systems design, with a track record of delivering high-performance, scalable software solutions.
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following: backend development (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java), cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), or DevOps.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, with a focus on fostering innovation and technical growth.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and navigate ambiguity in high-growth, scaling environments.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and familiarity with tools like JIRA, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
